We love the Celica. It’s underrated, inexpensive, and reliably built. A vintage example is the perfect pairing for a 22RE. This beauty lives in California, home of rust-free classics parked on every corner. It’s an example of a swap that simply improves on the experience of the original car without losing the spirit of that which came before.
While driving fine cars wearing white gloves may seem awesome, you would also be responsible for maintaining the fleet of automobiles, running various errands, and keeping all of the registrations and insurance coverage current. A lot of work for sure.
The Ford Mustang Boss 429 is one of the rarest of the hot cars on our list. In fact, it is one of the rarest muscle cars ever built. There were only 1358 built in 1969 and 1970. The Boss 429 was built for racing at a time when Ford was getting its ass handed to it in NACAR’s Sprint Cup Series by the 426 Hemi-powered Chrysler cars. At the time, NASCAR rules required that an engine used in the Sprint Cup Series had to be fitted to at least 500 cars sold to the general public; thus, the Mustang Boss 429 was born!
According to Bureau of Labor Statistics, “the best-paid drivers made $64,290, while the lowest-paid made approximately $23,840.” Obviously, this is a rather challenging job as the person behind the wheel is responsible for a large number of passengers while at the same time making sure they are paying attention to the road and traffic. This driving job may well be one of the most demanding of all driving jobs listed here.
Of course, no good list of crazy cheap cars would be complete without some American muscle. Of course, the Ford Mustang is iconic as any of its counterparts, so we sprung for the 1996-98 SVT Cobra. Unfortunately for the purists, this is the first model Mustang that saw Ford retiring its 5.0L V8 in place of a new 4.6L Modular unit. The Crown Victoria actually shares the same engine, albeit in a slightly different configuration that makes about 100 fewer hp.

The Lamborghini Veneno is a modified roadster version of the Aventador that is sharply focused on one thing…flat out speed. The car makes no pretense of having any other purpose for those rich enough and brave enough to own one. Lambo went all out, powering the Veneno with a 6.5L V12 capable of 740 hp and lowering its weight to just 3,280 lbs.
The hatchback first appeared in Europe during the early sixties, and some examples even date back to the late thirties and pre-WWII. In 1967, the Pontiac GTO had a new engine under the hood. The old 389 had been bored out to become a 400. When the new engine was equipped with a Rochester Quadrajet four-barrel carb(in the high output versions only), it was capable of 360 ponies and 438 lb-ft of torque.
